How to get a golf scholarship
Coach Tom Miller played 3 sports at the University of Louisiana-Monroe, including being an all-conference selection in golf in 1967. He was elected to the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983. In 2000, Tom was selected by Birmingham-Southern College (BSC) to start its NCAA Division I men’s and women’s golf programs. At BSC, he was named 2003 Women’s National Coach of the Year for Independent Colleges and Universities. His men’s and women’s teams turned out numerous tournament victories and individual medalists’ awards, including three all-conference players, two NCAA Division I All-America Scholars, one ESPN Academic All-American and one Big South Conference Freshman of the Year.
Tom has traveled all over the country observing and recruiting college golfers and is an invaluable resource to kids aspiring to college golf.
He has now moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and, via collegegolf101.com, is helping high school kids realize their dream of college golf. He is hooking up with forward-thinking private schools such as Cambrian International Academy to make their sports advisory programs comprehensive.
College sports and the recruiting process that goes with them have become outrageously competitive. In spite of that there are still opportunities for students who take a specific approach to getting spotted early on. Discovering a high school that will support students in a unique approach is vital to securing the top opportunities in college sports.
Search High School Golf Programs to find out more-and remember to ask about how well their academic departments work with their sports departments to make sure you get the best of both worlds. Your golf scholaship opportunities may depend on it.
