Wheatgrass – Revealed
You have probably listened to people chatting about Wheatgrass at some point over the last couple of years. Whether it is in a juice bar or from a friend or family member already utilising one of the numerous types of wheat grass but if you’re like the majority of people, you may still not understand wheat grass or the natural healing power wheatgrass possesses.
Wheat grass is basically the young blades of grass from wheatgrain. When the wheatgrain is planted it begins to develop shoots within two or three days. A few days later the shoots grow into blades of lush green grass. Within 8-10 days the wheat grass can be ripe for harvesting, Its woth noting at this stage that whilst the wheatgrass already posseses high levels of enzymes it has not had the required time to process complex carbohydrates often found in wheatgrass grown over winter.
As soon as the wheatgrass is ready to be harvested it is usually processed into various forms, which can include wheatgrass powder (Usually made by drying and grinding the wheatgrass blades into a very fine powder) wheat grass capsules (basically the powdered wheatgrass capsulated for ease of consumption) wheatgrass tablets (again often the powder cold pressed into tablet form) and wheatgrass juice. (The wheat grass leaves are juiced in a specialist wheat grass juicer which crushes the juice out of the wheatgrass without destroying vital nutrients.)
Any of the various forms of wheat grass harness an abundance of health boosting attributes, with a large range of minerals, vitamins, enzymes and amino acids. Wheatgrass also consists of more than 70% chlorophyll, which is very similar to blood due to its DNA structure. This means our bodies can utilise the nutrients in wheat grass very easily.
Wheatgrass has been around for a long time but it has only just arrived in the united kingdom and you can now find it online and at many health food shops. It has been in use for a large number of medical conditions and can be applied topically for external skin complaints such as eczema and acne. Taken internally it can help detoxify the blood stream replenishing it with vital nutrients which are required for optimum health.
