hawaii real estate? why are all of the homes old and exspensive?
sharewic1 asked:
i looked online and only found a few newer model homes. i know homes are supposed to be exspensive there but i thought that was b/c of newer homes. also which island is the main university on and where do most 20-somethings live?

Seems to me that real estate is expensive everywhere you look, no matter if it is in Hawaii or on the mainland. Doesn’t matter either if the home is an older home or a newer one. Real estate will be more expensive in diffrent areas than in other area’s. In Waikiki, and Kahala areas, it will be more expensive.
The island of Oahu has the university of Honolulu on it. Also Brigham Young University (BYU).
Most people live on the island of Oahu also.
Hope this helps you!

The main university ,UH is located on the island of Oahu and the location whould be Manoa. The price is high for houses that are old is because your paying for the property. It’s Hawaii paradise right?Well if you do move here,be aware everything you can think of is exspensive.

The main universities are on the island of Oahu and 20 somethings live wherever they can afford to live.
Rent runs about $1800/mo for studios when you can find them.
Why are all the homes expensive and old? Because we live in Hawaii and the cost of living is expensive here……if you can afford a house, it was probably built a long time ago and is therefore old.
There are newer houses in other sections of the island but they are often in the $1M range and far from the university.
Good luck!

It’s because there’s only so much land after Oprah bought it all.
