Because we live in Hawaii and the cost of living is expensive here......if you can afford a house, it was probably built a long time ago and is therefore old. There are newer houses in other sections of the island but they are often in the $1M range and far from the university. Good luck! Doesn't matter either if the home is an older home or a newer one. Real estate will be more expensive in diffrent areas than in other area's. In Waikiki, and Kahala areas, it will be more expensive.
