Maui rental car during the holiday?

I’ve already checked maui cruisers and word of mouth. Most of the big companies are 300+ for the week– inflated because its the end of december. I need a cheap rental car- rent a wreck or friend of a friend is cool too. Any suggestions…? Oh, and I’m 24 so everything goes up in price with big companies!
